Dear friend,
The height of the summer has finally arrived here in the UK. Hazy skies, warm air, and the garden bursting at the seams.
I feel that this year, the whole garden is a foot taller than last year. Probably because of the wet spring we’ve had; and my goodness the garden has been grateful for it. The roses in particular have thrived, producing an abundance of blooms, especially on rose Gertrude Jekyll!
We recently visited the home and grounds to David Austin Roses for a charity event for the NGS. It was a sight for sore eyes to see such a rich display of roses in bloom. Oh and their fragrances… we took notes upon notes…and I think we’ve made a decision on the rose we’d like have climbing up the front of the house. This means creating a new little border at the base of the rose too – more on that soon.Thank you to everyone who answered my questionnaire. You have been extremely helpful, and we are even closer to bringing you a very exciting Laundry Garden Collective Community together. More information coming up next month on this very exciting project!
In the meantime, have a read of some of the other jobs I’ll be getting on with this month on our blog in collaboration with Genus Gardenwear.
RHS FLOWER SHOWS
HAMPTON COURT & TATTON PARK

If you’re reading this newsletter on the 1st July, we will at Hampton Court Palace flower show for press day, which will be the second time we have visited. I’m very much looking forward to it as I feel it’s a bigger and more relaxed version of Chelsea Flower Show.
Towards the end of July (17th-21st July) we will also be attending the Tatton Park flower show which is the closest flower show to us. You can book tickets here. I’ve been going to this flower show ever since my gardening bug struck over 25 years ago, and it’s a great show to visit to see what can flower in your garden during the hot summer months. There are also some brilliant talks and show gardens to see, much like the rest of the RHS shows.

STAR PLANT OF THE MONTH
Erigeron
I first came across this sun loving stalwart in a local garden we visited over six years ago. I knew from the moment I saw it growing out of tiny crevices in pathways and walls, that this was the plant for here! Not only does this flower all summer, it is a perennial and a prolific self seeder, which I love. It also works well in a dry, free draining sunny position… underneath our pleached crab apples.
You can buy it here.
